Who this is for
- People who can’t remember all their old accounts
- People who moved or changed accounts and may have missed a refund

Step 2. Dormant money finder (Korea Inclusive Finance Agency)
Based on the agency’s official page.
- Money becomes “dormant” after: deposits 5 years, insurance payouts 3 years, cashier’s checks 5 years, unclaimed stock dividends 10 years.
- You can apply online for up to 20 million won in your own name (the dormant-money website or the “μλ―ΌκΈμ΅ μλ€” app).
- You can also search via Gov24, AccountInfo, the insurance finder, and some bank apps.
- Center visits need a reservation via 1397.
- Heirs can search too.
- Applying happens after identity verification (login) (official page: online applications up to 20 million won).
Step 3. National Tax Service unclaimed refunds
Based on the NTS official page.
- Finds tax refunds you didn’t receive (e.g., due to account errors), within 5 years of the refund decision.
- Search with your resident registration number and name.
- Claim via Hometax/Sontax, ARS 1544-9944, or a tax office.
Step 4. Receive it into your own account
- Use only the official websites or apps (AccountInfo, the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency’s dormant-money service, NTS Hometax). Beware of phishing texts, calls and look-alike sites; no official service asks you to pay a fee or send money first.
- Be suspicious of anyone offering to “find your money” for a fee or asking for personal details.
Common mistakes
- Checking only one service (each shows different money)
- Using links from text messages β type the address or use the official app
