How to Make Money Selling Clothes You Don’t Wear

If you have brand-name clothes you never wear, a used-clothing consignment service can help. This guide uses Charan, whose official pages we checked.

Who this is for

• People with brand clothes who don’t want to photograph and list them
• People clearing out a closet in one go

Step 1. Choose how to sell

Per Charan’s official “Sell on Charan” page, there are two ways:

• Cared (consignment): send a Charan bag; Charan inspects, cleans, photographs and sells.
• Market: you list and sell items yourself in the app.
• Payouts are in Charan credit, which can be converted to cash.

Step 2. Check what they accept

Per the official seller FAQ:

• Not accepted: stained or damaged items, damaged brand labels, counterfeits, underwear/pajamas, swimwear, strong odors.
• Not eligible: non-brand/online-mall clothes, kids’ clothes, shoes, jewelry.

Step 3. Request a bag and send it

• The Charan bag (60x70cm) is free, with no minimum quantity.
• Pack clothing and accessories separately.
• Pickup requests happen after you log in to the app. Pickup is contact-free.

Step 4. Prices and unsold items

• Charan suggests a price; if you don’t set one within 7 days, the suggested price is used.
• For unsold items, choose kg sale or return; if you don’t choose within 7 days, the item goes to Charan.
• Instant sale: for pickups requested from 2026-09-22, eligible brands are bought at fixed prices (outerwear/sets 2,000 won; tops/bottoms/dresses 1,000 won), credited within 1 hour. It can’t be changed once confirmed.

Note. kg sale changes (from 2026-05-15)

Per Charan’s official notice:

• Home pickup only in parts of Seoul/Gyeonggi, 20kg minimum
• Paid to your bank account before 8 pm on pickup day
• Handled via partner “헌옷훈남” KakaoTalk channel

Common mistakes

• Sending items without checking stains or smells
• Mixing clothing and accessories in one bag

• Trying to undo a confirmed instant sale
